Business Travel Tips

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Even those working in small businesses are finding that they need to travel more frequently these; the internet has increased most businesses customer base. Business travel can be quite stressful, especially if you are new to working on the move. There are some things you can do to reduce the amount of stress and fatigue that occurs and some interesting business travel tips and information that is supplied in this article.

One thing that will probably happen at some stage is your luggage will go missing which can be a real problem for anyone traveling but more so if you are on business. An easy remedy to this is to pack as much as possible that you absolutely must have for you meeting, in your hand luggage.

Although it means taking more on the plane it does mean that whatever might happen you will be prepared for your meeting. Of course when you are packing your main suitcase for the journey, it will be much simpler for you if you only include items that are essential and is an important business travel tip to remember.

The easiest way to do this is to only take one pair of casual shoes and work pair; keep your work clothes to exactly what you need for the tip and likewise clothes for when you are on your leisure time. With the clothing taken care of the only items left to pack are your toilet bag plus any additional documentation that would be useful but not necessary for the meeting.

A clever business travel tip, to reduce the size of bag you require, is too roll your clothes up instead of folding them; apart for taking up less space they are not so creased when they are unpacked. To go one step further, if you want to ensure that even if food or drink are spilled on your clothes you won’t need them laundered; use dark colors which are also handy because creases don’t show as much.

The ideal situation is where you can hop off the plane, quickly comb your hair, and make use of hygiene wipes to freshen up (another popular travelers trick) and then meet a client right away. Cell phones and other related equipment normally have good battery life but don’t forget to take a charger if you are going to be somewhere for more than a few days.

If you make effective use of your day time ‘downtime’ while you are traveling, then you may be able to spend evenings exploring the areas once when you arrive at your business trip destination. Regular business travelers make these preparations before every trip to ensure the business side of it goes without a hitch.

Business travel does not have to be all work and by using the business travel tips shown here, there should be time for rest and relaxation too.

Visit Orlando

Friday, May 30th, 2008

A favorite destination for many people is Orlando, Florida, with its many theme parks, it has become ‘the’ place to visit but there is much more to an Orlando vacation than this. Orlando city has a wide range of sights, places to eat with many of these available along International Drive where it is possible to park the car and take a stroll. Everything a visitor could possibly want is here and the reason why people return year after year.

Orlando really is one of the most visitor friendly cities in the world with fantastic shopping facilities like Church Street Station, a multi-level shopping and amusement center, with shops, eating places, clubs and bars. Visitors with more than just a passing interest in amusement parks and similar attractions will find themselves at home on a vacation to Orlando owing to the many entertainment venues the city has to offer.

To start, there is the Central Florida Zoo which draws huge crowds all year round and has over four hundred animals there although it is was only granted this status in 1975. Privately owned, this zoo is also a botanical garden run by a charitable group whose purpose is to protect native and endangered species around the world.

For anyone that appreciates the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany then a large collection of his works is exhibited the Museum of American Art, where it has been housed since the early 1940’s. This collection comprises Tiffany art glass, clayware and ornaments plus the chapel interior designed for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

Whilst Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. If you are looking for a variety of night life then it is in abundance when you vacation in Orlando with a wide range of street entertainment, bars, restaurants and clubs.

If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions everything from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. The International Trolley and Train Museum has fourteen trains running simultaneously in mountains, wilderness and urban areas; including three waterfalls that use 12,000 gallons of water per hour.

On International Drive there is the Mercado Center which is the home to the wonderfully moving, sad and at times eerie Titanic exhibition which actually displays a number of original items from the great ship. Of course if you prefer something more relaxing then you should visit Lake Eola Park, situated in the heart of downtown; this is the city’s main attraction with 43 acres of beautiful sidewalks and a boating lake.

Now you couldn’t possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and of course not to forget the fantastic Seaworld. Everyone that takes a vacation in Orlando wants to return and experience more of the attractions it has to offer.

Visiting Paris

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Paris is the capital of France and the second largest city of Western Europe; it’s location straddling the banks of the river Seine make it a beautiful city to visit. Owing to the amount of places to visit a short stay in Paris will be a busy one; if you have more time, it will make for a remarkable holiday, with many great sites to see.

It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; including famous sights like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe to name just two internationally famous landmarks. Traveling through the city of Paris can be very enjoyable; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.

You can’t miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it’s over three hundred meters high; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. You can be assured of an even more beautiful sight if you visit in the evening when it is illuminated; taking a tour at the same time will teach you much more about this remarkable structure.

A trip down the Champs Elysees is encouraged when you visit Paris as this is the city’s most famous street; it’s where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. This is an ‘up-market’ area that attracts thousands of tourists each day; the average tourist may find the accommodation expensive but more modest hotels can be found away from this area.

The city’s famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; with almost a third of a million exhibits, you will not be able to see everything in one trip. Visitors on short stays in Paris could easily be overwhelmed; some of the world’s most important art collections including the infamous Mona Lisa are on display. What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great capital; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.

The Arc de Triomphe another famous landmark was built by Napoleon in 1806; the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those ‘must have’ photo land marks. It also features an observatory to take in surrounding views; it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.

Certainly it is not fair to believe that these are the only places in the city worth visiting; these are however, the most popular with regular tours arranged, many of which are either free or at a subsidized cost. A Paris Short stay vacation should only ever be considered a sample of what the city can offer; that would require a longer visit as you probably won’t have time to visit the gothic churches and castles in only a few days.

One situation that you will not be able to avoid at some point if you take enough trips is that of lost luggage which can be a real problem if your baggage contains information relevant to your trip. So, wherever possible, pack as much as you can into your carry on luggage.

This makes a great deal of sense because you are covered should your main luggage go missing then your meeting can still go ahead and hopefully your main luggage will be located in due course. As far as your main luggage is concerned, make sure you only pack just enough for the trip and this is probably the most useful business travel tip to bear in mind.

The easiest way to do this is to only take one pair of casual shoes and work pair; keep your work clothes to exactly what you need for the tip and likewise clothes for when you are on your leisure time. All that is left once this is done is to include your toiletries and other business documentation that may be of use.

A little business travel tip that flight attendants use when they pack is to roll up their clothes, then place them into cylinders which compresses the clothing and reduces the number of creases. Dark clothing are very useful for traveling business people as it hides stains and dirt very well, so if you get sweaty or spill a coffee on the flight it won’t be too noticeable.

Another little trick that experienced travelers use is to carry hand and face wipes with them which can freshen your appearance in seconds without the need of a washroom. Remember before you leave to charge up your cell phone and other electronic devices; look into buying some form of mobile or wireless internet access package so that you can work on the move.

Many business travelers now use the traveling time to do as much work as possible which then allows them some personal time to themselves after work which in turn reduces stress. Regular business travelers make these preparations before every trip to ensure the business side of it goes without a hitch.

Business trips do not have to be boring and stressful if you apply the business travel tips in this article as they will allow you the opportunity to enjoy your free time even more.

Cheap Hire Cars

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Why not try a budget car rental and enjoy the independent experience it offers; this can save you the hassle of costly taxi rides and time wasted waiting for them to collect you. But with today’s competitive market, I wouldn’t be surprised that when trying to rent a car you can end up renting a car that sounds like lawnmower instead. Do not forget, the idea is to rent a car inexpensively, not one that is destined to be scrapped the minute you return it. That said; here are a few ideas you can use when organizing your rental car.

One way that can help is to use a web site for budget car rental that allows you to set your own upper spending limit. Some of these sites are just comparison sites but well worth your time as they have done all the hard work for you. Package deals like fly-drive and fly-drive and stay often discount the car rental element of the package just try avoid the airline companies when you book. Most people landing at an airport rush off to the car rental counters not realizing that these are not the most cost efficient places to rent a car and it is the same for their online business as well.

Just remember that you are likely to come across some amazing budget car rental deals on the internet if you look. In fact many car rental web sites will only give a discount if you book online with them. Besides, apart from upgrades, special offers are nearly always available if you look around. Don’t forget that the only effort required to find these car rental deals is to logon to the internet, how easy is that.

Sometimes, just when you think you have managed to get a really good deal. You find your credit card company has another surprise when it has organized a discount with the budget car rental company on top of any you have already arranged. Many car rental companies have arranged special deals with large organizations to ensure they have more business, perhaps you are a member of one of these.

Most rental cars are low on maintenance so when you rent a car, check all sides for damage. I mean every side and every nook and cranny of that car, make sure to inform the renter of these so that you wont have to pay for damages once you return the car. Not only the outside but also check the inside and make sure all the controls etc. work as the last thing you want is a hefty repair bill when you return the car.

One other thing to remember is to check your vehicle insurance policy as you will more than likely find that it provides rental car insurance cover so that’s another saving. Why pay for rental car insurance when your own auto insurance policy will cover some of the aspects, even if it isn’t a great deal; always make sure you have auto insurance anyway, as the penalties for driving without adequate cover are severe.

Always make sure you have auto insurance as the penalties for driving without adequate cover are severe.
