Cheap Hire Cars

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Frequent travelers are often the greatest users of budget car rental as they know the convenience it provides; true, taxis can be convenient as well but that’s only when you do not have to be anywhere particular in a hurry and don’t mind the high cost of each journey. The problem is finding a company that doesn’t rent budget cars, you know, the sort that sound like they should be mowing the lawn. I am not trying to put you off renting a car, just making sure you are aware that some companies will try to rent you something that will not be suitable. That said; here are a few ideas you can use when organizing your rental car.

The first easy option is to be in control of what you spend by finding a budget car rental company online that lets you set your own financial limit. Do not dismiss this type of sites because they want your business and sometimes offer other incentives like unlimited mileage for example. Look for package deals, fly-drive-stay, or fly-drive, most of these packages give great discounts for rentals, but don’t do it with an airline. Unfortunately, airlines although convenient aren’t really the more economic way to go, their car rental prices are hardly budget, and tend to be higher than those of outside firms.

Just remember that you are likely to come across some amazing budget car rental deals on the internet if you look. You will often find that there are discounts and extras available but only from the company’s web site. Aside from that you can easily get upgrades and depending on the season, at least one rental company is bound to have a special offer that can help you save money. Another thing to consider is the ease with which you can rent a car without leaving the comfort of your house.

Another thing to ask is whether your credit card company has negotiated special discounts with the budget car rental company you are going to use. It is quite common these days for a company to have made an arrangement with other companies to give discounts to their employees or members so you may be lucky enough to receive a further discount here.

The only problem you may find is that a rental car may not have been looked after with the same care as a more reputable company. There may some damage which you do not want to be liable for. In addition, try to check out all the accessories, wipers, radio, brakes, seat belts etc, to familiarize yourself with them, and also to check if they work, like the previous tip, you might be charged for this if you don’t inform them.

As far as rental car insurance is concerned, check your own before you pay out more for the rental company’s policy which you may not need. Although the rental car insurance isn’t going to be costly, there is no point in paying out twice if your current auto insurance will cover you; even though it may not seem important, driving without auto insurance can land you in a ton of trouble.

So don’t think that it isn’t an important aspect either because insurance is still required by law.

Caribbean Cruises

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Caribbean cruises are fast becoming the most popular of all cruise vacations anywhere and it is not surprising; this could be a vacation of a lifetime because it will be one you never forget. There is fantastic scenery, beautiful beaches, and exotic Caribbean island locations; on the cruise liner itself you will have entertainment and a full program of activities at anytime of the day or night. Whilst short breaks are available, perhaps over a weekend period, the vast majority of passengers sail for seven days and sometimes in excess of fourteen but depends on how much you are willing to spend.

Everyone on board a ship will have individual needs and they can cater for them all, it is your vacation and it can be as quite or lively as you want it to be. If anything, you will have a hard time keeping up with everything that you can possibly do on a cruise liner.

Planning is the key to vacationing and with the number of packages now available it will be well worth your time to have a chat with your tour operator’s agent. Caribbean cruises travel to most parts of the world, but with different price packages for each itinerary together with the duration and the number of places visited.

Some cruise vacations to the Caribbean are for people that like to party with plenty of discos and non-stop entertainment and may not be the ideal place for families. Don’t forget that more and more information is put online these days and whilst the travel agent will be helpful, there is every chance you can take a virtual tour of the Caribbean cruise ships if you visit the website directly.

One important thing to remember is the type of clothes you pack for your trip as you will have the opportunity to wear all you normal holiday clothes plus those for dressing up in the evening. There are more formal evenings where women will to have take evening gowns and men will need a tuxedo as you may be invited to the captains table.

A common mistake is for families to believe that cruise vacations aren’t very child friendly which couldn’t be further from the truth as most have more activities for children than they do for adults. There is always something for them to do and people to take care of them if you need a few hours of adult time.

Some Caribbean cruises are specifically for adults only, which ideal for couples, honeymooners and people that would like to have a child free vacation. Special occasions can be made very special on board a cruise liner whether it is for an anniversary or a honeymoon, various packages and upgrades can be arranged.

Your Caribbean cruise will be a vacation of a lifetime as you don’t have to do anything but enjoy yourself as everything else is taken care of irrespective if you go on your own, a couple or part of a family group.

Visit Orlando

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Although probably the theme park capital of the world, a vacation in Orlando, Florida does not mean these are the only attractions to keep visitors amused. Orlando also has the famous International Drive which houses a huge number of attractions, shopping areas and water parks; all within a reasonable walking distance if you want a rest from driving. Whilst a vacation here has been popular for many years now, the reason to visit continues to grow as the number of facilities and attractions increases.

As one of the most tourist centered cities in the world, Orlando a great deal to offer including large shopping malls, restaurants of every type, night clubs, bars and many specialist shops. An Orlando vacation is a destination that offers a wide range of attractions perfect for adults and children of all ages.

Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. Privately owned, this zoo is also a botanical garden run by a charitable group whose purpose is to protect native and endangered species around the world.

For anyone that appreciates the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany then a large collection of his works is exhibited the Museum of American Art, where it has been housed since the early 1940’s. For aficionados of Tiffany art, this is the place to visit with the largest display anywhere in the world, including jewelry, paintings, glass, pottery and ornaments.

No adult, despite any thoughts to the opposite, could go to Orlando and find nothing of interest as the range of attractions for both the young and old is huge. For the young at heart, Orlando vacations aim to please with extensive evening venues including music and dance at Disney’s incredible Pleasure Island and Universals version, City walk, to name just a couple of places.

Another great place to visit about twenty minutes drive from Orlando Airport is The Orlando Science Center, originating back to 1955; it is a huge complex with over two hundred thousand square feet of exhibition space spanning ten halls. If your preference is in railways then the International Trolley and Train Museum on International drive will be a pleasant surprise with 14 trains running continuously and three waterfalls in a space of about 4,000 square feet.

The Titanic – Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. For those who prefer a little peace and relaxation they can visit the beautiful lake Eola Park where there are forty three acres of land to roam freely; it includes a boating lake.

However, there aren’t that many visitors who visit Orlando without a trip to one of the four main Disney theme parks or the equally impressive Universal studios; where a person’s age really doesn’t matter. For people that dislike sitting around on a beach then a vacation in Orlando is ideal although there are certain times during the year when it is much busier than others.

Cheap Hire Cars

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Why not try budget car rental next time you are traveling and at least you won’t never have to hang around waiting for the taxi to show up; if you use taxis regularly you will not need reminding how expensive this form of transportation is, so perhaps it is time you tried something else. The one thing you don’t want though is to be lumbered with a car that sounds like your lawnmower. Perhaps a slight exaggeration on my part but when renting a car you do have to be careful. Just so you do not get caught out with your rental car I have decided to pass on a few pointers that may be of assistance.

If you’re not choosy about what car you rent, try to get your budget car rental through sites that let you choose cars at your own price. Do not dismiss this type of sites because they want your business and sometimes offer other incentives like unlimited mileage for example. It is not unusual to find that package deals that incorporate a flight and rental car, provide other incentives such as a vehicle upgrade for instance although this is rarely the case if you book with one of the airlines directly. The convenience of renting your car online at the airlines web site is usually offset by the higher charge you will pay.

Just remember that you are likely to come across some amazing budget car rental deals on the internet if you look. You will often find that there are discounts and extras available but only from the company’s web site. Do not always take the first offer that comes your way, unless you are limited on time because there are bound to be other discount offers available if you have the time to take a look. Don’t forget that the only effort required to find these car rental deals is to logon to the internet, how easy is that.

Don’t forget to ask for any special offers if you are making a booking over the phone because if you do not ask, you are less likely to be given a discount and you may even find your credit card company has incentives with particular budget car rental agencies. Many car rental companies have arranged special deals with large organizations to ensure they have more business, perhaps you are a member of one of these.

Before you drive the rental car away, carry out a thorough check for damage. These cars often take a few knocks so if there is any damage; make sure the renter is aware of them. To ensure you do not end up paying for any problems the car may have, including lights, horn etc. that don’t work, it is a good idea to also check these before you drive away.

One other thing to remember is to check your vehicle insurance policy as you will more than likely find that it provides rental car insurance cover so that’s another saving. Rental car insurance doesn’t cost much, but if you already have one why buy another; whatever the situation, insurance is always required when you rent a car.

So don’t think that it isn’t an important aspect either because insurance is still required by law.

Cheap Hire Cars

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

One of the best ways to guarantee an enjoyable vacation is to rent a car from a budget car rental company; getting around by taxi is ok, providing you don’t mind waiting or the expensive fares! Sometimes though, the companies that rent budget cars, supply cars that are at the bottom end of the spectrum. I am not trying to put you off renting a car, just making sure you are aware that some companies will try to rent you something that will not be suitable. There are a few things that can help you when you organize a low cost rental car and I decided to let you know a few.

If the type of car you want to drive is of no real concern to you, use a budget car rental web site that allows you to dictate your own price level. Most people landing at an airport rush off to the car rental counters not realizing that these are not the most cost efficient places to rent a car and it is the same for their online business as well.

There are some excellent budget car rental deals on the internet that can give you a great bargain. In fact many car rental web sites will only give a discount if you book online with them. Shopping around on the internet can be fun and save you money as there is almost always a special offer available with one car Rental Company or another. Don’t forget that the only effort required to find these car rental deals is to logon to the internet, how easy is that.

Discounts are often available that you don’t realize; they are those that have been arranged between the budget car rental company and your credit card company so it is worth checking as you can save even more money. It is quite common these days for a company to have made an arrangement with other companies to give discounts to their employees or members so you may be lucky enough to receive a further discount here.

Another tip is to check you rental car carefully and let the company know of any damage you find before you drive away. In addition to a physical check for collision damage, make sure everything works as it should or you might find yourself paying for something that wasn’t your fault.

More often than not your existing vehicle policy will cover the rental car insurance needed but it is always best to check first. Although the rental car insurance isn’t going to be costly, there is no point in paying out twice if your current auto insurance will cover you; even though it may not seem important, driving without auto insurance can land you in a ton of trouble.

Remember that car insurance is always required when you rent a car.
