Cheap Hire Cars

Using budget car rentals could be the way to enjoy an independent vacation; this can save you the hassle of costly taxi rides and time wasted waiting for them to collect you. You will need to check carefully before you rent a budget car or you may end up with a vehicle with the power of a quad bike. Always be prepared, that is my motto, you do not have to drive a car that should have been scrapped just because you want to save a few dollars on the rental. Now that I have you concerned, I am going to give you a few points to look for when arranging a rental car.

One way that can help is to use a web site for budget car rental that allows you to set your own upper spending limit. These firms will try to get the best deal for your rental car and might just toss in unlimited mileage and upgrades, all of that without spending an extra dime. When you look, pay attention to the fly-drive packages as they will often discount car rentals although the airlines are not so accommodating. The convenience of renting your car online at the airlines web site is usually offset by the higher charge you will pay.

There are some excellent budget car rental deals on the internet that can give you a great bargain. Often the discounts you are offered are only available to online customers. If you see an offer that looks good, you do not have to take the first one that comes your way because if one car rental company has a special offer on, then they probably won’t be the only one. Don’t forget that the only effort required to find these car rental deals is to logon to the internet, how easy is that.

If you are phoning, ask for discounts that can be applicable to you, remember even when you’ve scored the best deal, there is still that one last ditch of a possibility that one of your credit cards support the company and provide budget car rental discounts. The frequent flyer program is still available or perhaps you are a member of an organization that has preferential rates arranged.

Most rental cars are low on maintenance so when you rent a car, check all sides for damage. I mean every side and every nook and cranny of that car, make sure to inform the renter of these so that you wont have to pay for damages once you return the car. In addition to a physical check for collision damage, make sure everything works as it should or you might find yourself paying for something that wasn’t your fault.

Now we pass the subject of protection because sometimes your own car policy will cover the rental car insurance required. Check this out before you take out any additional cover from the rental firm. Rental car insurance doesn’t cost much, but if you already have one why buy another; irrespective of the situation, don’t think that it isn’t an important aspect either because insurance is still required by law.

Always make sure you have auto insurance as the penalties for driving without adequate cover are severe.

Cheap Hire Cars

Why not try budget car rental next time you are traveling and at least you won’t never have to hang around waiting for the taxi to show up; using a car still provides a level of freedom that just isn’t available when hiring taxis. But with today’s competitive market, I wouldn’t be surprised that when trying to rent a car you can end up renting a car that sounds like lawnmower instead. OK, so I may be exaggerating a little but it is something you have to look out for because the last thing you want is to have a car that is not going to be of any use. To avoid this here are a few tips to get the budget, out of your rental car.

If the type of car you want to drive is of no real concern to you, use a budget car rental web site that allows you to dictate your own price level. These companies will try and get you the best deal available and often offer other upgrades or incentives to get your custom. Package deals like fly-drive and fly-drive and stay often discount the car rental element of the package just try avoid the airline companies when you book. If you do not need to organize your car rental with the airline, try a company that is outside the airport you will find they are usually less competitive.

There are bargains to be found on the internet and that also means budget car rental as well. You will often find that there are discounts and extras available but only from the company’s web site. Besides, apart from upgrades, special offers are nearly always available if you look around. Plus, and this is the good bit; all this can be done from your home.

Discounts are often available that you don’t realize; they are those that have been arranged between the budget car rental company and your credit card company so it is worth checking as you can save even more money. It is quite common these days for a company to have made an arrangement with other companies to give discounts to their employees or members so you may be lucky enough to receive a further discount here.

Another tip is to check you rental car carefully and let the company know of any damage you find before you drive away. In addition, try to check out all the accessories, wipers, radio, brakes, seat belts etc, to familiarize yourself with them, and also to check if they work, like the previous tip, you might be charged for this if you don’t inform them.

More often than not your existing vehicle policy will cover the rental car insurance needed but it is always best to check first. Rental car insurance doesn’t cost much, but if you already have one why buy another; even though it may not seem important, driving without auto insurance can land you in a ton of trouble.

Remember that car insurance is always required when you rent a car.

Caribbean Cruises

Friday, August 29th, 2008

A Caribbean cruise vacation is the ultimate deal and if you have not tried it yet, now is the time; how else would you get to visit this many beautiful islands in such a short period? There is fantastic scenery, beautiful beaches, and exotic Caribbean island locations; on the cruise liner itself you will have entertainment and a full program of activities at anytime of the day or night. Some people only take a short break and visit perhaps only a couple of islands as part of a larger vacation but most people are doing a tour of as many islands as they can with some lasting over two weeks.

Everyone on board a ship will have individual needs and they can cater for them all, it is your vacation and it can be as quite or lively as you want it to be. Don’t think for one moment that there will not be enough to occupy you as cruise liners are the equivalent of floating vacation resorts that have a different view every day.

It is always a pleasant use of your time to see what vacations on ships are available and see what choice of packages there are so why not start at the local travel operator for some advice. Each Caribbean cruise will visit a certain number of islands on that particular voyage so you must decide if you want to visit certain islands like Jamaica, Bermuda, Bahamas or Antigua for example.

Many cruise vacations cater more for adults and the activities include discos, late night entertainment, casinos and shows with daytime events to challenge those with an excess of energy. Whilst your travel agent can give more details, so can the Caribbean cruise liner website and information on the types of packages should be more in depth.

The main difference with this type of vacation is the number of changes of clothing you take with you as there is a greater opportunity to dress for evening functions. For formal evenings and events a gown is necessary for women and tuxedo for men so that you can be seen in your finest and something you need to be prepared for especially if you are invited to the Captains table.

Don’t worry if you are uncertain about taking your children along on a cruise vacations because there will be plenty for them to do without you needing to be close at hand, watching over them. You can even take time off for a little quality adult time as there is fully trained staff to look after them.

For those of you that would prefer a child free vacation, that too is available so you can cruise around the Caribbean islands without having to worry about children. Nothing on board a cruise liner is to much trouble so if you are celebrating a special event or occasion, be assured that packages to entertain this are available too.

The whole idea of a Caribbean cruise vacation is that you enjoy yourself and just let go for however long you are on board because it may be some time before you go again!

Visit Orlando

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

An Orlando vacation can involve various activities, but the most popular attractions are certainly the theme parks although it has a great deal more to offer. Orlando city has a wide range of sights, places to eat with many of these available along International Drive where it is possible to park the car and take a stroll. Whilst a vacation here has been popular for many years now, the reason to visit continues to grow as the number of facilities and attractions increases.

Orlando really is one of the most visitor friendly cities in the world with fantastic shopping facilities like Church Street Station, a multi-level shopping and amusement center, with shops, eating places, clubs and bars. More than 35-million people each year come to enjoy a vacation in Orlando at the many attractions and events that make it a great place to visit.

If you are an animal lover then you must visit the Central Florida Zoological Park in Sanford which was opened to the public in 1975 and houses a collection of over 400 hundred animals. The zoo has a charity status and is dedicated to the preservation of all exotic animals, including those that are only found in Florida.

You may have heard of the name Tiffany’s but did you know that it was way back in 1942 that the Morse Museum in Winter Park that started displaying the collections of Louis Tiffany. This collection comprises Tiffany art glass, clayware and ornaments plus the chapel interior designed for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

Surprisingly, Orlando is not just about fun for the children because adults are very well catered for in this entertainment town. If you are looking for a variety of night life then it is in abundance when you vacation in Orlando with a wide range of street entertainment, bars, restaurants and clubs.

The Orlando Science Center is another of the major attractions and its four-story center is the biggest of its kind in the Southeast; offering 10 exhibit halls that allow visitors everything from the Florida swamplands to the dry plains of Mars. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the country’s largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

For something a little different there’s the Titanic Exhibition which tells the story of the ill fated Ocean Liner performed by a character from the ship; the displays contain some original salvaged items and at times the tour is very moving. Lake Eola Park on the other hand has a pleasant 43 acres to stroll around and relax or perhaps a little boating on the lake.

No trip to Orlando would be complete without a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort which comprises of four main theme parks plus water parks; or Universal Studios resort complex which is equally as popular. To make the most of your Orlando vacation try to visit outside of traditional holiday periods if you want to avoid the crowds.

Visiting Paris

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Paris is the capital of France and the second largest city of Western Europe; it has the ability to please everyone and is often referred to as The City of Lights. No visit to Europe would be complete without a short stay in Paris; with a great deal to see and do that to really a week is needed.

It is known for its wonderful buildings, style, excellent food and wine; the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre must not go unmentioned. Like most European cities, Paris is easy to get around; there is a superb underground rail system called the Metro which is efficient and easy to understand.

It wouldn’t be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower; there are only a few places in the city where it isn’t visible. Illuminated at night it dominates the city’s skyline; guided tours are available where the patriotic tour guides give you an in depth history and an insight to what it is to be French.

A walk along the Champs Elysees is essential when you visit Paris; it’s where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. If you are in Paris on a short stay you must plan your time well; unfortunately it has so many visitors each year that some people are unable to see their favorite works. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.

Of course, Napoleon commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe, another Paris landmark; it provides visitors with a wonderful photo experience because it contains the names of every one of his generals. A little known fact is that there’s a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city’s main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.

Obviously, these are not the only places to visit; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. Most people find their Paris short stay vacations exciting but only see a glimpse of what’s on offer; you would probably need a week to view the main galleries, visit medieval castles and explore fabulous Gothic churches.
