Morocco

A land of myth and mystery, Morocco appeals to all the senses…and adds a sense of romance. From its northern most tip at Tangier to its westcoast wonderful ports and resorts and the inland intrigue of Marrakech, the country is a kaleidoscope of vibrant colour, spice scented souks and haunting history.

It’s magic. Rocky outcrops, calm bays and broad sweeps of fine sand form the country’s Atlantic coast. Agadir is its most established resort, set beside a 10 km stretch of superb golden sand beach and where various watersports are available. Don’t miss Marrakech with its mosques and markets, maze of alleyways and lively `Place of the Dead’ square. Easy-going Essaouira is a pretty fishing port of whitewashed, blueshuttered houses. And the towns of Taroudant, Tafraout and Tiznit are within easy reach for a day trip. Other sites include Marche Municipal, the main market and is located in the centre of Agadir. S

ouk `El Had’ is a walled market place with many shops and stalls, this is worth a visit if you are wanting to haggle for a bargain. The Folk Art Museum in Agadir was created in 1992, within the municipal theatre complex, this museum offers a collection presenting the folk arts and traditions of the Souss Valley. Agadir’s only historic site is the Kasbah an 18th Century fortress which is situated on a hill that overlooks the town and has great views of the resort.
