This is one of the most fascinating regions of Greece. Here the Myceneans, long thought to have lived only in legend, inhabited the hilltop palace at Mycenae for 600 years.

The fearless Spartan warriors were trained in the austere city of Sparta and the Sanctuary of Olympia, the source of the inextinguishable Olympic flame enjoyed 2,000 years of veneration as a religious and athletic centre.
