Visit Orlando

Although probably the theme park capital of the world, a vacation in Orlando, Florida does not mean these are the only attractions to keep visitors amused. Orlando also has the famous International Drive which houses a huge number of attractions, shopping areas and water parks; all within a reasonable walking distance if you want a rest from driving. Whilst a vacation here has been popular for many years now, the reason to visit continues to grow as the number of facilities and attractions increases.

As one of the most tourist centered cities in the world, Orlando a great deal to offer including large shopping malls, restaurants of every type, night clubs, bars and many specialist shops. An Orlando vacation is a destination that offers a wide range of attractions perfect for adults and children of all ages.

Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. Privately owned, this zoo is also a botanical garden run by a charitable group whose purpose is to protect native and endangered species around the world.

For anyone that appreciates the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany then a large collection of his works is exhibited the Museum of American Art, where it has been housed since the early 1940’s. For aficionados of Tiffany art, this is the place to visit with the largest display anywhere in the world, including jewelry, paintings, glass, pottery and ornaments.

No adult, despite any thoughts to the opposite, could go to Orlando and find nothing of interest as the range of attractions for both the young and old is huge. For the young at heart, Orlando vacations aim to please with extensive evening venues including music and dance at Disney’s incredible Pleasure Island and Universals version, City walk, to name just a couple of places.

Another great place to visit about twenty minutes drive from Orlando Airport is The Orlando Science Center, originating back to 1955; it is a huge complex with over two hundred thousand square feet of exhibition space spanning ten halls. If your preference is in railways then the International Trolley and Train Museum on International drive will be a pleasant surprise with 14 trains running continuously and three waterfalls in a space of about 4,000 square feet.

The Titanic – Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. For those who prefer a little peace and relaxation they can visit the beautiful lake Eola Park where there are forty three acres of land to roam freely; it includes a boating lake.

However, there aren’t that many visitors who visit Orlando without a trip to one of the four main Disney theme parks or the equally impressive Universal studios; where a person’s age really doesn’t matter. For people that dislike sitting around on a beach then a vacation in Orlando is ideal although there are certain times during the year when it is much busier than others.
